In this interview Johnson gives a brief outline, and thought processes, on why he wrote the handbook, his aims and objectives. This is set against a general discussion on how he became race conscious and involved in anti-racist activism. For a major part of the discussion, Johnson surveys the integrationist, and self-determinationist perspectives on the total liberation of ‘black’ people as a group, in the diaspora and on the African continent.
